Gun men kidnap son of Rivers PDP official


A 14 year- old son of the Vice Chairman, Rivers West Senatorial district of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Prince Aboko Agolia, has been kidnapped in Rivers state.

Master Isaac Aboko was allegedly whisked away by about eight heavily armed men who stormed their residence in the early hours of yesterday. The state Police Command confirmed the ugly development but said details were hazy.

Meantime, the Executive Chairman Degema LGA, Hon. Ibigoni Daddy Pokima, has condemned the abduction. In an online statement, he said the Vice Chairman was first attacked before the hoodlums whisked away the son. H e further called for the unconditional release of the hostage just as he appealed to youths in the area to shun crime.

“The Executive Chairman of Degema local government area, Hon. Ibigoni Daddy Pokima has condemned in strong terms the unwarranted and babaric attack on the Vice Chairman, Rivers West Senatorial District of the Peoples Democratic Party, Prince Aboko Agolia by unknown hoodlums on Wednesday night and the subsequent abduction of his son Master Isaac Aboko Agolia at his residence”, a statement from his press secretary, Rev Success Ekine said.

In a related development, president of the Students Union Government of the Rivers state University of Science and Technology, Mr Godwill Amadi has enjoined authorities of the university to uncover those behind the recent explosion at the office of the Registrar of the University. Mr Amadi who spoke to newsmen said unmasking those behind it would assure students of their safety.

It would be recalled that explosion rocked the office of the Registrar of the university at about 8pm on Wednesday night. There were speculations that some persons may have thrown the explosives into the office. Police spokesman, DSP Ben Uguegbulam who confirmed the development said police had swung into action with a view to uncovering all details on the incident. (Vanguard)
