Mc Oluomo, Olohunwa Banned From Lagos Nurtw Election

In its bid to curb violent clashes in various motor parks in Lagos State, the national leadership of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) has banned both Alhaji Rafiu Akanni Olohunwa, former state chairman, and Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya, a.k.a. MC Oluomo, former treasurer, from participating in the forthcoming delegate conference of the Lagos State council of the union.

The national leadership of the union in a statement issued in Abuja today entitled: ‘Banned from contesting elections into offices of Lagos State chapter of the NURTW,’ signed by the President, Alhaji Nojeem Yasin, and General Secretary, Comrade Kingsley Uko, stated that the suspended members had been carrying out activities meant to truncate the smooth conduct of the state council delegate conference scheduled to hold soon, hence the decision to ban them from taking part in the election.
“In a bid to gain undue advantage over other contestants, the suspended duo have been harassing and intimidating other contestants and voters,” they stated. This, the statement added, might lead to a breakdown of law and order in the state.

The union stated that to forestall violent acts and breakdown of law and order, “the leaders of the warring factions spearheading these illegal activities, namely Alhaji Rafiu Akanni Olohunwa and Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya are hereby banned from contesting in the forthcoming delegate conference in Lagos.”
The national headquarters also appealed to members of the union in local branches to go about their normal businesses and not succumb to any act of intimidation and harassment by those affected by the ban. (PM New)
