Man steals kerosene worth N9m
The police in Lagos on Friday arraigned a businessman for collecting nine million naira worth of kerosene on credit and refusing to pay for it.
Oluwatoyin Dada (36) is standing trial on a seven-count charge of conspiracy, stealing, fraud and obtaining goods under false pretext.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
According to the prosecutor, Sergant Idowu Onime, the accused, an Apapa resident, collected various quantities of kerosene from Messrs Wasiu Adebayo, Rasheem Bolaji and Abogunri Kayode at different times with the agreement that he would sell the fuel and reimburse his three creditors.
He said Dada sold the kerosene but failed to pay his creditors.
The prosecutor said that the accused committed the alleged offences between November 19, 2010 and December 17, 2010 at the Ascon Oil Depot, Apapa.
He said that the alleged offences contravened Sections 409, 312 and 285 of the Criminal Code of Lagos State.
Magistrate Helen Omisore admitted Dada to a bail of one million naira, with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case till March 7 for mention. (NAN)
