Nothing less than five people have died in an attack by gunmen on security facilities in Maiduguri, Borno State police spokesman, Samuel Tizhe, said on Tuesday.

According to the police spokesman, the dead includes a soldier, two policemen and two civilians.
Tizhe disclosed that the gunmen, suspected to be members of the Boko Haram sect, attacked a Nigerian Airforce base, a police station and an army check point.

It will be recalled that the radical Islamic sect dramatically increased its attacks in northern Nigeria since the beginning of 2012. (Daily Times)
