I am satisfied with IGP’s response – Minister

ABUJA — Minister  of Police Affairs, Mr Caleb Olubolade said, yesterday, that he was satisfied with the response of the Inspector General of Police, Mr Hafiz Ringim, to the query issued to him over the escape, from police custody, of Kabir Sokoto, who was alleged to be the mastermind of the Christmas day bomb attack at St Theresa’s Catholic Church, Madalla, Niger State that claimed more than 40 lives.
This is against the background that the investigative panel set up by the government is yet to submit its report on disappearance of the prime Boko Haram suspect.

Speaking with newsmen, yesterday, the minister said although he was satisfied with Ringim’s response to the query issued to him, his fate will, however, be determined by an investigative panel, adding that since he was not a member of the panel handling the matter, they should be made to do their job without interference.
He said: “I have to tell Nigerians that because an investigation panel has been set up, Nigerians should be patient and allow them do their job. A time line has been given to them and at the end of that, something will come out. So we should not preempt.

There are senior police and military officers on the panel, officers from the ministry are also there and other agents are there so it is a combined one.

Meanwhile, the Ona of Abaji, Alhaji Adamu Yunusa has been released after he was picked up for questioning on Friday by the police over Kabir Umar alias Kabir Sokoto’s escape.

Vanguard investigations revealed that Ohinoyi of Garinya, heads of Garki, Gwagwalada, Kwali and chieftains from Kaduna besieged the Ona of Abaji’s palace to pay him solidarity visits.
The Oba who attended to his visitors declined to speak to Vanguard on the killing of Awal Inuwa Ashafa and Kabir Sokoto’s escape due to the sensitivity of the matter which he said was tied to national security of the country. (Vanguard)
