Hafiz Ringim goes wild on Kabir Umar (espaced Xmas day bomber)

His job and career on a 24-hour life-span, the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Hafiz Ringin, has declared wanted Kabiru Umar, aka Kabiru Sokoto, and placed a N50 million reward on his head.
Yesterday, a beleaguered President Goodluck Jonathan gave the ultimatum, which suggested he might fire his first high level official.

Sokoto was in the custody of the infamous Commissioner of Police, Mr. Zakare Biu, when he was said to have escaped. Both Kabiru Sokoto and Zakare Biu, who was subsequently suspended, hail from the same home town in Borno State.

Sokoto was a prime suspect in the Christmas Day Bombing of St. Theresa Catholic Church, Madalla, Niger State, in which more than 40 people were killed.

Nigerians have since Umar’s arrest asked why Ringim would hand him over to Zakare, who is practically a blood brother to him.

In a press release today, the Police High Command said Umar was “wanted in connection with cases of bombing and terrorism across the Northern States of the Federation, especially the Christmas-Day bombing of a Church at Madalla, Niger State which resulted into wanton destruction of lives and properties.”

The statement, which was signed by Deputy Commissioner Olusola Amore, the Force Public Relations Officer, described Umar as 28 years old, fair in complexion, and fluent in English, Hausa and Arabic. His last residential address was Bulletin Quarters, Abaji, in the Federal Capital Territory.

The Police asked anyone with useful information regarding the whereabouts of Umar, or that will lead to his arrest to report to the nearest police station.
Many Nigerians wonder if Mr. Jonathan, who has complained about Boko Haram infiltrating his government, has the strength to fire IG Ringim. He seems to back away from every confrontation with top officials of his own administration. (SaharaReporter)
