Ebonyi government to begin house to house inspection

The state is determined to improve the health condition of residents

The Ebonyi State government is set to commence house to house and drain to drain inspection as part of its efforts toward making the state one of the cleanest state in the country and improving the health condition of residents.
The state commissioner for Environment, Dr. Paul Okorie, who made this known on Saturday after observing the monthly environmental sanitation exercise in the state, noted that the combined team from the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Environment and environmental officers would supervise the exercise.
He warned that his ministry would prosecute those who fail to keep both their house and drains clean, noting that the state government is very serious in making the state clean.

Saying that every logistic needed for the exercise had been put in place, Okorie advised the people to dump their refuse at refuse bins or keep it in front of their houses from where refuse trucks will collect them.
He also said that provision had been made in the 2012 budget for the additional refuse bins and trucks, adding that ecological problems like flooding and erosion would be given adequate attention.

On the success of the environmental exercise, Okorie said that the level of compliance was commendable but regretted that some people were seen playing football when they should have been in their various houses cleaning their environment.
